Mom's Fluffy Biscuits

This recipe is adapted from a recipe by my mom (hence the title). My dad loves biscuits, and my mom was determined to create the best homemade biscuit recipe for him. Thanks to her determination and many different attempts, she came up with a simple biscuit recipe that is fluffy and healthier than your average Joe (or biscuit). I made a couple slight tweaks to her original recipe to add more nutritional value, but the foundation for this recipe was laid out by my mom. Ladies and gentleman, be prepared to replace your old biscuit recipe with this one. Without any more delay, I'm pleased to present to you: my Mom's Fluffy Biscuits.


Mom's Fluffly Biscuits

Prep time: 5 minutes

Bake time: 20- 25 minutes

Servings: 6-9 biscuits


  • 1 cup oat flour

  • 1 cup white flour

  • 1 T. baking powder

  • 3/4 t. salt

  • 1/4 cup oil

  • 3/4 cup milk


  1. Preheat oven to 415 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Mix the flours, baking powder, and salt in large bowl.

  3. Mix the oil and milk in a separate bowl.

  4. Add the liquids to the dry ingredients and mix together.

  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown on top.


For a savory variation, replace the milk with vegetable broth and reduce the salt to 1/4 teaspoon. Also, oat flour can easily be made by blending old fashioned oats in a blender (approximately 1 1/4 cup oats= 1 cup oat flour).
